The Cocktail Detective Policies

RULE #1 - If you have questions, ask them!

The planning stage of your event is the most crucial part. Don't assume anything; there are no dumb questions. I'm happy to go over everything in detail so we can make your party excellent!

Booking

The Host agrees to sign a booking contract and abide by The Cocktail Detective Policies. The booking contract will include the Host's contact information, location of the event, all applicable rates/fees/totals for bartending services, and duration of the event.

There is a non-refundable booking fee of at least $50 to reserve your event with The Cocktail Detective.

To book your event we require a valid credit card on file. Payments can be made any time before the event and/or when the bartender arrives for setup. Payment is due in full on the day of service, before the event begins.

Service Rates

The Cocktail Detective charges $60 per hour for bartending, with a minimum charge of $240 per event. Additional promotions and packages may be offered with prices subject to change. We reserve the right to adjust prices and rates during the quoting phase of your event. All prices are to be agreed upon and finalized at the time of booking, and will be written into the booking contract.

If the host would like the bartender to continue service beyond the contracted time, the bartender may agree to extend service on an hourly basis. Any hourly service extension is at the discretion of the bartender at the event. For any service extension, the host agrees to pay the hourly rate defined in the booking contract. The bartender is under no obligation to continue service after the event end time defined in the booking contract.

Payment

Payment for services agreed upon in the booking contract are due in full on the service date, before the event begins.

We accept Venmo, Zelle, Cash, and all major Credit/Debit Cards. No personal checks.

Credit/Debit payments will be processed through Square Payments, and may be subject to service fees.

Event Setup

Setup time is very important. The bartender will arrive at least 1 hour before guest arrival to begin setup. Depending on the size and scope of your event, more setup time may be necessary. Please plan to allow the bartender early access to your event space. Events that do not allow the bartender to setup properly run the risk of not having a functional bar at the start of the event.

The host must provide at least an 8' x 6' area for the bartender to set up. Exceptions can be made but must be agreed upon during event planning. You must have all the alcohol available and near the bar location (within 50 feet) before the bartender arrives for setup. The Bar area may not be in direct sunlight for more than 1 hour, otherwise the host must provide shade. The bartender may set up a fan behind the bar on hot days, or wear a jacket if it is below 65 degrees.

Bartender Responsibilities

The Bartender is only responsible for the setup, service, and breakdown of the bar. This includes making and serving drinks, restocking the bar, maintaining cleanliness of the immediate bar area, and emptying the bar trash can. The Bartender may close the bar temporarily at events longer than 4 hours if they need to step away for bathroom breaks, or restocking purposes.

The Bartender is NOT responsible for tray passing drinks, bussing tables, helping with event decorations, moving furniture, taking photos, cleaning bathrooms, or assisting other vendors.

The Bartender has the right to refuse service to any guest or host at any time. The Bartender will not serve guests that are excessively demanding, rude, belligerent, or intoxicated.

The Bartender will not serve anyone underage, and may request to see a valid ID from anyone prior to serving. The bartender will abide by all house rules of the venue he/she is hired to work at.

Tipping & Promotional Policy

The bartender reserves the right to accept all tips, at any time, from the host(s) and/or guests of an event, no exceptions.

The bartender is to be permitted to display a tip jar and Cocktail Detective business cards in a highly visible area on the bar.

If you would like the bartender to remove the tip jar there will be a $2 per guest "No Tip Jar" fee (e.g. if the event has 30 guests with no tip jar, the "No Tip Jar" fee is $60). If no tip jar is displayed, the Bartender is still permitted to accept tips if someone wishes to tip him/her.

Refund Policy

The booking fee is Non-Refundable. Tips are Non-Refundable.

A full refund, minus booking fee, will be granted to the host if they cancel their event at least three business days prior to the event (e.g. If the party is scheduled for a Saturday, it must be cancelled by Wednesday before close of business in order to get a full refund). A 50% refund will be issued for events cancelled within 2 business days of the event. NO REFUND will be issued for any event that cancels the day of the event, under any circumstance.

You are entitled to a full refund, including booking fees, if the bartender is a No-Show.

A partial refund may be granted at the discretion of The Cocktail Detective if the bartender is late, leaves the party early, or becomes unable to serve. Event start/end times of service must be agreed upon in the Booking Contract.
